Koffee, Cuba’s Awe-Inspiring Biker Dog

Koffee may be Cuba’s most famous dog. Wearing dark goggles, Koffee rides all around Havana perched on the back of an electric motorcycle, leaving passersby in awe.

“Koffee is Cuba’s most viral biker dog”, says Leandro V.A., Koffee’s owner.

“People are in shock to see him so still”, adds Leandro.

“Does he have good balance?” Leandro is asked by a man riding his bicycle.

“They are in awe because they’ve never seen a dog ride a bike so naturally. People take photos and videos of him, they call him, they ask me if he has ever fallen off. When the pandemic began I started working with animal activists rescuing dogs and cats. Koffee was one of our rescue cases. When I saw him I really wanted to adopt him. As I was almost always on the road with the bike whenever I got the chance I would take him with me so he wasn’t home alone,” says Leandro.

“The best part of having a dog is spending time with him and having a connection. Being able to ride my bike with him is a plus and the freedom to take him with me wherever I go,” says Leandro.

“Right now, one of the most popular forms of transportation in Cuba is electric motorcycles,

because they aren’t too expensive and they’re great for getting around the city,” says Leandro.

“There are a lot of distractions on the street and Koffee needs to keep his balance. The secret is patience so that he can feel that riding the bike is how he can move around,” says Leandro

“It’s really fun and I’m never lonely. He is the best travel companion. He enjoys it, I enjoy it.

The two of us together, and we’re off. We’re off!”, concludes Koffee's owner.
